Data requests

Access, correct, export or delete what we hold about you — and what we actually hold, which is very little.

What we hold

Reading this site creates no account and no profile. We hold data only if you gave it to us:

  • If you signed up for the weekly email — your address, the role you optionally gave, the consent wording shown to you, and the date.
  • If you submitted a story — what you typed in the form, your name and email, your role context, and any editorial correspondence.
  • If you sent a response — the response, and the name you gave.

Your reading list, follows and theme choice are not in that list because they never leave your browser. See cookies and storage.

How to ask

Email editors@hr.cafe from the address you used, saying which of these you want:

  • A copy of everything we hold about you.
  • A correction to something inaccurate.
  • Deletion of your data.
  • Export in a machine-readable format.
  • Withdrawal of consent for the email list.

How long it takes

  • Acknowledged within three working days.
  • Completed within 30 days, usually much sooner — there is not much to gather.
  • Done by a person, by hand. This is a small publication; there is no self-service dashboard, and saying there is one would be a lie.

Confirming it is you

We reply to the address we hold. If you have lost access to it, we will ask for something that reasonably connects you to the record — never a scan of an identity document.

What deletion does not remove

A published story is a separate matter from your submission record: see withdrawing a story. We may also keep the minimum needed to honor an unsubscribe — a record that your address asked not to be contacted — because deleting that entirely would let a future import add you back.
