Terms

The intended terms for reading, contributing and responding, including who owns your story.

Last updated

Draft pending review. This plain-language draft describes how the site is built to work today. It will be reviewed and finalized before the publication launches with real contributors.

Reading

Stories are free to read. Please link to them rather than copying them in full; short quotes with attribution are welcome.

Contributors

  • You keep your rights. Our intended default is that you grant hr.cafe a non-exclusive permission to publish the version you approved, and to promote it with excerpts you approved.
  • You can reuse your story anywhere, subject to any agreements you already have with employers or other publishers. A link back is appreciated.
  • Only share what you have the right to share. Do not submit material owned by an employer or another publisher, or someone else’s photos or quotes, without permission.
  • Corrections and withdrawal. You can request corrections or withdrawal at any time. Material changes after approval require your renewed approval.
  • No payment either way. Contributors are not currently paid, and no one can pay for acceptance or praise.

Responses

By sending a response you allow us to moderate it and, only if you tick the box, publish it with your display name. Be respectful, disagree with ideas rather than people, and leave out identifying details about others.

Conduct

We may decline or remove content that exposes private information, harasses anyone, solicits business, or misrepresents facts. You can report content by emailing [email protected].

Not professional advice

Stories describe individual experiences in specific contexts and jurisdictions. They are not legal, employment or professional advice.
