Response guidelines

What happens to a response you send, what gets published, and what does not.

Last updated

Responses are collected but not yet displayed anywhere. The form works and every response reaches an editor. There is no public page showing responses yet, so sending one today reaches us and no one else. When that changes, nothing already sent is published without asking you first.

What we are looking for

A response is not a comment. It is a short account of your own experience of the same problem — what was different in your context, what you tried, what you would warn someone about.

  • Specific beats general. “We tried this with 40 managers and it fell apart at the handover” is worth more than “great piece”.
  • Disagreement is welcome when it is with the idea and reasoned.
  • Protect other people. Leave out anything that identifies a colleague, an employee or an employer without consent.

What is declined

  • Anything identifying a third party who has not agreed to it.
  • Marketing, recruitment or solicitation of any kind.
  • Personal attacks, or disagreement aimed at the author rather than the argument.
  • Legal or HR advice presented as authoritative.

How it is handled

  • Every response is read by an editor. Publication is never automatic.
  • Nothing is published under your name without your explicit permission.
  • We may ask to edit for length or to remove an identifying detail; you approve the result.
  • We aim to respond within 10 working days. If we decline, we say so rather than leaving you waiting.
  • You can ask us to delete your response at any time — see data requests.
